Aston Martin flies the new Lagonda to Muscat with Oman Air
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Aston Martin flies the new Lagonda to Muscat with Oman Air Back in July, Aston Martin confirmed the revival of Lagonda with a short run of a Lagonda Super Saloon to be sold exclusively in the Middle East. The photo of the new Lagonda shows its arrival in Muscat – courtesy of Oman Air – as the new Lagonda is flown out to Oman to begin its testing.
Fangio's Mercedes-Benz W196 up for auction at Goodwood
Mon, 18 Mar 2013It's the father of the venerated 300 SLR. It was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio, Hans Hermann and Sir Stirling Moss. The open-wheel body was commissioned by El Chueco himself when the streamlined unit designed for fast tracks proved too tricky to place on twistier circuits.
Pontiac SD-290
Wed, 21 Nov 2007According to GM, the Pontiac SD-290 concept is "Designed to evoke the emotions of classic sports cars". Introduced at SEMA, the vehicle is derived from a Pontiac Solstice but has been transformed into a pure single-seat race car with its passenger compartment made obsolete by a hard tonneau cover. Despite its competition red paint scheme, it is difficult not to relate the SD-290 to the timeless shape of a D-Type Jaguar. We can also see the influence of BMW's 2004 H2R land speed record breaking concept in the SD-290's asymmetrical layout, with its racing cockpit protected only by a small windscreen in front of the driver and a faired headrest and roll-bar behind the seat.
