Top 10 cars at the 2014 New York Auto Show

The New York Auto Show isn't one of the most high-profile events on the motoring calendar, but that doesn't stop it being a great showcase for all that the world's car manufacturers have to offer. The 2014 event gave a number of exciting new cars their public debut, including BMW's M4 Convertible and X4, the Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition and the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe. Land Rover even presented a concept car vision of how the next Discovery will look.

Volvo V40 range gets new Drive-E engines

From May this year Volvo will update its V40 model, equipping the premium Swedish hatchback with its range of high-efficiency Drive-E engines and Volvo’s latest eight-speed automatic gearbox. This means the revised V40 line-up now offers an impressive performance to efficiency ratio, with 190hp on offer in the D4 turbodiesel variant, returning a claimed 74.3mpg combined with 99g/km CO2 when mated to the six-speed manual. Preview: Porsche Panamera

After what has already been the most drawn-out model introduction ever (the initial Porsche sketches of the new model having been revealed in 2005), Porsche has finally released the first official rendering of its forthcoming Panamera sedan, set to be launched in 2009. Though the plan view doesn't show much of the new Porsche's design, the company says the features will 'include a wide and low body offering dynamic proportions and muscular design'. But while the grand tourer will have a 'compact overall look', the interior space is claimed to offer a brand-new experience of roominess, with two single seats and generous headroom at the rear allowing adults to sit in comfort.
