Buy a Datatag Outboard Motor System, easy and quick to install with no special tools needed

Many thousands of outboard motors are stolen each year, thieves often causing serious damage to boats in the process. The Datatag electronic identification system is designed to act as both a deterrent against theft and as a powerful way to recover in the event of a theft. The system is designed to be installed by the owner of the outboard motor.

It is easy to install and yet effective. The Datatag system contains everything that is required and includes:

  • NEW “Stealth” UV etching technology
  • Datatag Datadots ®
  • High quality ultra destruct warning label with QR code
  • Glass tag electronic transponder with a unique embedded identification number

Installation of the Datatag security technologies gives the outboard motor a unique “fingerprint” that can be established, by the police or the insurance industry, in a number of different ways. The unique identity is virtually impossible to remove, how ever hard a criminal may try.

All UK Police Forces have been equipped Free of Charge with thousands of special Datatag scanners that are specifically programmed to read the Datatag electronic transponders help the police to gain the upper hand and defeat criminals and their networks.

The main benefits for the police, compared to other tagging systems, is that with this new system they are already equipped with the scanners to conduct a roadside check and they can contact Datatag call centre at any time of day or night 365 days a year.

The police can establish the outboard motors true identity from the tamper evident registration number or the “electronic fingerprint” from the Datadot’s even if the outboard motor has been modified or painted. All Datatag systems meet the “Secured by Design” standard, the Association of Chief Police Officers preferred specification for security marking.

Datatag Outboard Motor System includes the following technology:

Glass Tag Transponders

This transponder is roughly the size of a grain of rice and can be easily installed. It contains a unique code number which is permanently programmed into it’s integrated circuit. The number cannot be altered or deleted.

High Quality Ultra Destruct Label

These unique tamper eviden, ultra destruct warning labels can be used in many markets and feature a unique number which uses "stealth" UV etching. This unique number is permanently etched even if the label is damaged or removed.

Datadots®

A superior microdot identification system developed for ease of use. The Datadots can be applied to any surface, thus making it virtually impossible for the criminals to locate and remove them all.

The Datadots® can be used to mark as many components as possible beneath your engine cover - electrics, fuel system and the engine itself.

Ultimate TE Label

These specially designed Datatag tamper evident labels contain a unique identification number and QR code.

They warn off any potential thieves and are both attractive and impossible to remove without damage.

Market view: why the Jaguar XJ has an uphill battle

Fri, 10 Jul 2009

By Glen Brooks Motor Industry 10 July 2009 16:11 It’s a sobering thought for Jaguar management that no matter how good the new 2010 XJ is, it’s never going to be a big seller. The global market for large executive saloons was in decline long before the Great Recession appeared, the buyers in this segment increasingly tempted by models as diverse as the BMW X6, Infiniti FX, Cadillac Escalade or Mercedes GL-Class crossovers and SUVs. The generation that was chauffeured in an S-class or XJ is retiring, with the owner-drivers who succeed them soon to be preferring a Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide or Audi A7.

Tesla Model S charging system may have started garage blaze

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

A fire department in Southern California said a garage fire may have been caused by an overheated charging system in a Tesla Model S sedan, in the latest link between the top selling electric car and the potential for fire. While Tesla Motors Inc. contends the fire was not related to the car or its charging system, the Orange County Fire Authority said the Tesla-supplied charging system or the connection at the electricity panel on the wall of the garage of a single-family home could have caused the fire.

BMW's new 5-series next for hybrid power

Wed, 28 Oct 2009

The new BMW 5-series being launched this winter is likely to be the next BMW to receive the ActiveHybrid system pioneered on the petrol-electric 7-series and X6 models. BMW engineers admit they can't rely on sales of the pricey hybrid 7-series and X6 to justify the development costs, even though these range-topping halo hybrids were jointly developed with Daimler and GM. Senior sources have indicated that the new 2010 5-series will be the next BMW to get an ActiveHybrid model.
