Last Available Worldwide? As far as we know, this new undertray is now pretty much extinct as an available part elsewhere on the planet...Given the huge significance of this part to XJS owners, need we say more? This undertray was a standard factory fitting on all 1976 to 1993 XJS Coupes, Cabriolets & Convertibles - up to 188104, the last 6 digits of the VIN number on 1993 model year cars. So what exactly is the 'undertray'? It fits directly behind the front chin spoiler beneath the front bumper assembly and the undertray performs two equally essential functions... Firstly, by being secured to the chin spoiler, it adds stability and rigidity to the spoiler - how often have you seen splits, cracks or pieces missing from the spoiler after it became ripped or torn just flapping in the wind? Secondly, the undertray dramatically aids engine cooling by directing air currents straight through the engine bay itself rather than haphazardly all over the place - in fact in years gone by, the first sign of a missing or compromised undertray was a rising needle on the temperature gauge! Tata Nano: the CEO’s plans to sell it in Europe
Mon, 21 Jun 2010Carl-Peter Forster, CEO of Tata Motors, has told CAR of his hopes for Tata’s expansion in Europe – with plans to launch the Nano here with a diesel and possibly an electric version. You can read the full interview with Forster in the new July 2010 issue of CAR Magazine out this week. Tata is already the world’s fourth largest commercial vehicle producer and it is a strong force in the Indian car market.
BMW 640d xDrive – another 4WD BMW NOT coming to the UK
Sat, 25 Feb 2012The BMW 640d xDrive - NOT coming to the UK BMW has added the BMW 640d xDrive to the 6 Series range – in coupe and convertible – with a 313bhp diesel and 4WD. But it won’t hit the UK. BMW broke the taboo of a diesel engine in a range-topping coupe in the last generation 6 Series, and takes that a step further in the new 6 Series by adding 4Wd to create the BMW 640d xDrive, which will be available as both a coupe and convertible.

Tue, 24 Dec 2013Peugeot 408 GT Coupe planned for 2016 based on the 308 (pictured) The market for smaller four-door coupes has grown in recent years, and it looks like the Mercedes CLA – the four-door coupe version of the Mercedes A-Class – is a runaway success. That seems to have given Peugeot the idea that it should revive the ’40-something’ badge a couple of years after they dropped the 407 and 607 in favour of the 508 and build a new coupe, this time a four-door. The Peugeot 407 was a larger two-door coupe – the not quite as convincing update for the very good 406 coupe – which had an old-world coupe feel and was very much a niche product in Peugeot’s range.
