Features Temperature-controlled valve located in the hot leg between engine and radiator, often mounted on the cylinder head. Controls the flow of coolant through the radiator and regulating heat dissipation. The thermostat allows the engine to reach its operating temperature as quickly as possible; this reduces oil dilution, cylinder bore wear, fuel consumption, exhaust emission, and improves the efficiency of the heating system. Motoring groups warn over M1 speed limit change
Tue, 07 Jan 2014MOTORING campaigners have warned that speed limits on motorways across the country could be cut after the Highways Agency announced plans for a 60mph zone on the M1. The plan would come into effect between junction 28 of the M1 at Mansfield and junction 35a for Sheffield and Rotherham between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week. The Highways Agency said the reduced speed limit would be used to help reduce emissions along the route.

New Ford Mondeo: Estate, Hybrid and 4WD

We’ve already reported that the new Mondeo will get the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine as an option – the first time any car in the D Segment has had such a small engine – but there’s more to the new Mondeo than just a headline little engine and an Aston Martin grill. As well as the frugal EcoBoost engine, Ford will also be launching their first hybrid in Europe with a Mondeo Hybrid boasting a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 35kW lithium-ion battery to trim official emissions and consumption as much as possible.
