This was manufactured before 1964 and before seat belts were standard equipment and before seat belts were required. The lap belt doesn't snap together, it fits together nonmechanically. Manufactured at 28 Ionia S. W. Grand Rapids, Michigan. I think there was another box that went with this that contained another belt and the angled metal pieces that attached to the floor on the inside of the car and the bolts. What is here is one belt, instructions for installation and the steel plates that attached to the car floor on the outside of the car. I don't think anyone will be using this in their car, but if they do then they are handy enough to make the angled metal plate that attaches inside of the car. An interesting display and conversation piece.

Concept Car of the Week: Chevrolet Express (1987)

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

A fantastic selection of concept cars from the ‘80s were featured in Back to the Future II such as the Pontiac Pursuit, the Ford Probe or the Saab EV-1, but my personal favorite was the Chevrolet Express that almost ran over Marty upon his arrival in the year 2015. Before being a movie extra, the Express was presented in 1987 as another attempt from GM to adapt aircraft engineering to automotive requirements. GM had been experimenting with gas turbines for more than 20 years, dating back to the 370hp XP-21 Firebird from 1954, but that concept was quite primitive compared to its younger brother.

Alpina has released first details of the estate edition of its 5-series based B5 Bi-Turbo. The wannabe M5 Touring car will be officially unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show next week. Alpina has been tuning BMWs for more than 40 years with the factory's blessing and increasingly close collaboration. Presaging the recent move by BMW M to forced-induction engines, Alpina first turbocharged the 5-series when they launched the B10 Bi-Turbo of 1989.

Jeep to use Fiat platforms starting in '13

Jeep's small SUVs will use Fiat-supplied platforms starting in 2013, Jeep brand CEO Mike Manley said on Wednesday. Jeep will eliminate the Patriot and Compass crossovers after 2012 and replace them with a single C-segment vehicle whose platform will originate with Fiat Group. Jeep also will introduce a B-segment small SUV in 2013 with a Fiat platform.
