Government to make UK hub for driverless cars
Thu, 05 Dec 2013The government has today announced plans to make the UK a world centre for the development of driverless cars – with a £10 million cash incentive to any town or city that builds a test site for autonomous vehicles. The news comes as part of chancellor George Osborne’s 2013 Autumn Statement – alongside plans to scrap the car road tax disc and freeze fuel duty. Now, Toyota is about to take another expensive punt on new technology, this time with the launch of a hydrogen fuel cell car in Japan, the USA and Europe in 2015. The numbers won’t be huge, but they will be significant.
