The new Mercedes AMG GT gets teased on video. Pitched a bit further down the supercar ladder than the SLS, the AMG Gt is aiming to take on cars like the Porsche 911 and deliver a car that Mercedes hope will be the benchmark in its class.

These are the clearest images yet of Jaguar’s new F-Type Coupe, set to be unveiled next week at the LA Motor Show and due on sale in the UK by spring 2014. The car was spotted wearing a camouflage wrap by a car-mad teenager in a supermarket car park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, a short drive from Jaguar’s headquarters near Coventry.

But now there’s a third way – the Volkswagen Golf GTE plug-in hybrid. Combining a 1.4 litre TSI turbo petrol with 148bhp and a 101bhp electric motor, the Golf GTE manages a combined output of 201bhp, enough to get to 62mph in 7.6 seconds and return official economy figures of 157mpg and emissions of a paltry 35g/km.
