Better Place EV Battery Swap business goes bust
Tue, 28 May 2013It seemed like a good idea: take the cost of batteries out of the cost of buying an electric car and instead charge EV owners to use ‘Battery Swap’ stations where depleted batteries could be swapped for fully charged ones in the time it takes to fill an ICE car with petrol. Better Place – which partnered with Renault in 2009 to make the battery swap technology viable – has failed to find anyone to add to the $750 million already involved in the project and has filed for bankruptcy.

The trouble with the Europa was that buyers seemed to perceive it as what it was – a stop-gap before the Lotus Evora arrived.
Saab 9-3 production starts again – cars to be sold online to Swedish buyers

And, in many ways, they were right. They were right because the new owners of Saab, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), intend making electric cars in the future, and even though they will get a Saab badge, they won’t be allowed to use the Griffin logo.
