Adapt readily available early 90's small block Chevy V8 or 4.3L V6 serpentine belt setup for use on big-block Chevy V8's

Get late model OEM looks, reliability, and performance from your Rat without paying big bucks or scouring the salvage yards for a rare factory BBC setup.

Looks like the factory cast aluminum big-block set-up that GM never offered, but should have!

Kit contents:

  • Seven high quality 6061-T6 heat-treated aluminum adapter plates, produced by computer controlled ultra-high-pressure water jet.
  • All nuts and bolts to attach the adapter plates to a big block Chevy (standard or tall deck) engine. Note: Both 3/8 and 7/16 bolts are included for the passenger side head, since the holes vary for different years.
  • Instructions with diagrams and pictures

Additional parts needed to complete the engine (not included in this kit):

  • Use driver side and passenger side aluminum drive brackets off of a 1990-1994 Chevy 350 V8 or 4.3L V6 truck, with casting numbers 10118701 (driver's side) and 10118751 (passenger side). These are the brackets shown below. Notice that the passenger side bracket does not have an arm for mounting an air pump. Also notice the zigzag pattern ribs at the top of the driver's side bracket under the alternator. These brackets were used for other years and models too. A salvage yard or GM dealer may be able to help find them. See pictures. The passenger side bracket should include the idler and tensioner.
  • Air conditioner compressor and pulley, alternator and pulley, and power steering pump and pulley off the donor engine. Note: A good reason to use 1994 truck parts is that the compressor will use R134a refrigerant
  • A water pump pulley off the donor engine. Do not use a pulley with a groove. The belt surface must be smooth. GM part number 10085760 is suitable.
  • A reverse rotation water pump off of a 1988-1999 454 engine. This is considered a “long” pump, and is 7 5/16” from block to pulley mounting surface.
  • A big-block crankshaft pulley, GM part number 10085753. Contact us for a small-block pulley adapter if you have difficulty obtaining the BBC pulley from GM.
  • Gates belt number K060970 or equivalent 6-rib 97” belt. This assumes the use of the 1994 truck brackets listed above and the belt routed inside the idler as shown below. The idler pulley can be omitted if desired. If the idler is not used, a 96" belt should be used.
  • A new thermostat housing may be needed to allow the upper radiator hose to clear the alternator. The Chevelle shown below is using a swivel-neck housing. Upper radiator hose will probably need to change, but your vehicle's stock lower hose, may work

Sorry, tuned port V8 brackets don't work.

Mounting the plates

Plates attach to the three accessory holes on each head and to the two pairs of holes on either side of the timing chain cover on the block. Long bolts go through the brackets and plates and thread into the outermost holes on both cylinder heads. See diagrams and pictures.

Parking fines hit £30 per month

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

BRITISH motorists pay more than £30 million each month in parking fines, figures suggest. More tickets are being issued this year by councils than last year and there has been a 13% rise in fines issued on a Sunday, according to data obtained by LV=. The car insurer calculated councils have handed out more than 890,000 parking fines per month in 2013 - a 4% increase on 2012 figures - and, based on an average amount of £42 per ticket and excluding any successful appeals, drivers are now paying in excess of £30 million each month.

McLaren MP4-12C Spider (2012) first official pictures

Tue, 03 Jul 2012

For the naysayers who continue to decry McLaren's MP4-12C for a supposed lack of visual and visceral drama, the British supercar maker has unveiled this: the new 2012 McLaren MP4-12C Spider. Mechanically identical to the newly updated MP4-12C coupe, the Spider gets a unique retractable hard-top to keep out the rain, just in time for its wintry lanch in November 2012. How is the McLaren 12C Spider's folding roof unique?

LA Motor Show 2013 preview guide

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

According to the show's organisers, the 2013 LA Motor Show is the 'mother of all shows' - how wonderfully American! It runs from 20 November to 1 December at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and although it's not the biggest motor show on Earth, it does boast a fair number of world debuts and 'first reveals' – many of which we’ve rounded up in the following gallery. Tickets cost $10 (£6.22) during the week and $12 (£7.47) at weekends.
