Jaguar Land Rover aiming to double sales
Sat, 22 Jun 2013Jaguar Land Rover plan to double sales We’ve got so used to reporting ever increasing sales for Jaguar and Land Rover that it comes as no big surprise that JLR are planning to double car sales by 2020. A few years ago such a figure would have been risible, but since Tata took the helm from Ford in 2008 the focus at JLR on creating a world beating brand and product has been unshakable. Tata got off to a good start with the Jaguar XF replacing the S-Type, and the new Jaguar XJ showing just how good a big luxury car can be to drive.
Pulsar Bursts Onto Family Hatch Scene
Wed, 21 May 2014IT’S GOING to get ugly in the fiercely competitive family hatchback market soon, as Nissan has decided to rejoin the fray with its newly launched Pulsar model. Clearly aiming at the likes of Volkswagen’s Golf and Ford’s Focus, Nissan bosses are already talking up their new challenger ahead of the car’s autumn debut. Styled to complement the popular Qashqai, the Pulsar promises to major on quality, refinement and cabin space plus boast a raft of hi-tech kit to make the ownership experience safer and more enjoyable.
Russian Grand Prix: Hamilton on pole for Mercedes
Sat, 11 Oct 2014Hamilton (r) has pole in Russia followed by Rosberg (l) and Bottas (c) Amid tight security thanks to Russia’s ongoing spat in Ukraine, and a muted appetite for exuberance after Jules Bianchi’s dreadful crash with a JCB on track last weekend, the rest of the F1 circus seems to be on normal duty, with Hamilton’s Mercedes taking the front row and Hamilton dominating proceedings in qualifying to secure another pole position. But it wasn’t necessarily going all Mercedes’ way, with Bottas stringing together a very quick lap in the dying moments of final qualifying that looked like it could propel him in front of the Mercedes duo, until he lost traction at the end of his flying lap and had to settle for third spot in tomorrow’s race. Joining Bottas on row two is Jenson Button and his McLaren after a strong qualifying, and Daniil Kvyat – at his first home Grand Prix – managed to secure a very impressive fifth spot for Toro Rosso. Kevin Magnussen in the second McLaren would have been on row three in sixth spot but gets a five place penalty for a gearbox change.
