The Maserati Alfieri (pictured) is going in to production When the Maserati Alfieri was revealed at the Geneva Motor SHow in March, we said it was a car Maserati must build. And they are. Maserati has confirmed that the Alfieri will go in to production in 2016 as the Alfieri Coupe, with an Alfieri Convertible arriving by 2017, giving Maserati a serious rival to the Jaguar F-Type.

Running at a secret test at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the one-off prototype, using a tweaked version of Jaguar's new supercharged 5.0-litre V8, topped even the legendary XJ220's 217mph top speed. Thirty lucky kids learned to drive classic cars at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Mich., on Friday in celebration of Collector Car Appreciation Day. Hagerty Insurance partnered with local classic-car owners for the inaugural event, which aimed to foster an interest in vintage cars among young drivers and to introduce them to manual transmissions. Hagerty said today's teens rarely have access to manuals, since about 90 percent of new cars have automatic transmissions.
