Car clocking fraud on rise again
Mon, 12 May 2014There could be as many as 486,000 vehicles with a false mileage on the road in the UK, according to vehicle history experts, HPI. The act of “clocking” a vehicle has been around for a number of years and is something that was made easier with the arrival of digital odometers. In the past, the mis-aligned digits and exposed screw heads meant that a clocked car was relatively easy to spot.
VW Touareg BlueMotion hits the UK
Fri, 12 Jun 2009Volkswagen has announced the VW Touareg BlueMotion for the UK Offering improved economy and lower emissions, the Touareg BlueMotion manages to drop in to a lower Co2 band by emitting 219g/km (a reduction from 244g/km on the V6 TDi) and it delivers 34mpg as opposed to 30.4mpg on the V7 TDi. These improvements have been achieved by the usual ECU tweaking, low rolling resistance tyres, some aerodynamic tweaks and a lower ride height (exactly the same sort of stuff that Ford has done on the EConetic range). And the penalty for the lower emissions and better economy is very slight, with the Touareg BlueMotion still managing the 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 126mph.
Classic Design Concepts to debut "Bad Penny" Ford Mustang
Thu, 31 Oct 2013There won't be a shortage of custom-built Ford Mustangs at the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas, and there's one car that's already making waves before the show has even started. Classic Design Concepts has published photos and details of the "Bad Penny" Mustang that will be debuting at the show, and the company promises that it will be as fast and as mean as it looks. The base vehicle used for the build is a 2014 Ford Mustang GT, with a 5.0-liter four-valve Ti-VCT V8 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
