Citroen DS5 promo: Arsenal players take on English National Ballet +video
Sat, 07 Apr 2012The Arsenal players and ENB dancers with the Citroen DS5 The Arsenal players and ENB dancers with the Citroen DS5 In a slightly odd promotion for the Citroen DS5, Citroen has teamed up Arsenal players with the English National Ballet It looks a bit like Citroen has been taking notice of MINI’s somewhat off-the-wall promotions for their cars and have decided a great way to get the DS5 – now it’s on sale in the UK – front and central is to take Arsenal players Alex Song, Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bacary Sagna off to the English National Ballet to get some lessons. We’re assuming the link with the DS5 is supposed to be all about elegance, power, shape, beauty, grace or any number of ways you can describe ballet and, by association, the Citroen DS5. We get treated to the Arsenal players doing a lift or two, managing a Plié at the bar and even a Pas de deux, Pirouette and an Arabesque (and now we’ve run out of ballet terminology).
Post-World War II Japanese tin toys on display in New York
Fri, 14 Aug 2009During the rebuilding of Japan after World War II, a Japanese toy designer took a discarded tin can and molded it into an intricate model car. Just inches in length, it created a phenomenon in the 1940s and '50s in Japan called “buriki.” Buriki is derived from “blik,” which is Dutch for "tin toy." A collection of 70 tin-toy vehicles manufactured in Japan is currently on display at New York's Japan Society Gallery. The exhibit, called “Buriki: Japanese Tin Toys from the Golden Age of the American Automobile, The Yoku Tanaka Collection,” runs until Aug.
BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition revealed
Wed, 29 Jun 2011BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics - the 'Blue' X1 arrives The BMW X1 is, according to BMW, “…still the only premium vehicle in its segment” and they’re keen to make sure that their baby SUV keeps its nose ahead of the pack. Which explains the plans to launch an X1 badged-up with the EfficientDynamics moniker in the Autumn – the BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition. BMW anoraks know that BMW’s EfficientDynamics gubbins – stuff like stop-start and low rolling resistance tyres – have sneaked in across the BMW range over the last few years, improving economy and lowering emissions in the process.
