The irony in this car arriving stems from the trouble that the German maker has faced in the US – where VW board members have blamed long model cycles with minor facelifts such as this – as the reason why sales fell and its North America boss stepped down late last year. Nissan Leaf with advanced-driver assist to begin public road tests in Japan
Thu, 26 Sep 2013Nissan is about to begin testing advanced driver-assist systems in the real world, and a new Nissan Leaf is serving as the test bed for these technologies. This is all a part of Nissan's development of Autonomous Drive, a goal to achieve virtually zero fatalities in accidents involving its vehicles by the year 2020. Autonomous Drive can be said to be a further development of Nissan's Safety Shield, a system that has a 360-degree view around the vehicle that scans for risks and provides warnings to the driver, intervening automatically if necessary.
Toyota Prius recalled for two fixes
Wed, 14 Nov 2012Toyota Motor Corp. will recall 2.77 million vehicles worldwide--including 670,000 Prius hybrids in the United States--to fix a possible water pump problem and steering defect. The electric water pump recall covers five models globally for a tally of 630,000 vehicles.
