2011 Infiniti FX – the updates

Infiniti FX - two new toys & a price rise.

Remarkably, it is almost two years since the Infiniti FX launched in the UK. Since when Infiniti has introduced a 3.0 litre diesel version – the Infiniti FX30d – in an attempt to double sales from almost none to slightly more than none.

And now, for 2011, Infiniti has decided the FX needs a tweak or two and some extra toys. Who knows; it might help someone make their mind up to plunge for a posh Nissan.

Although bear in mind that the small changes appear to be accompanied by a price rise of around £700. So you’re paying for the changes.

Nothing has changed on the engines front – there’s still the FX30d 3.0 litre diesel, FX37 3.7 litre petrol and the FX50 with its 5.0 litre V8 – but there are added features and new colour(s).

Lane Departure Prevention – which you can already get on the FX30d – now gets added to the more expensive petrol-engined FX models as standard, and you can now opt to have a motor to open the boot. Which seems to be it as far as extra toys goes.

On the cosmetic front all we can actually work out that’s changed is that Infiniti has dropped ‘Mojave Copper’ (it’s a paint colour) and replaced it with ‘Malbec Black’. Which Infiniti say is a popular colour. Fair enough.

But when you’re selling just a bit over four cars a week, can any colour be termed ‘Popular’?
