It’s not five minutes since Infiniti introduced the G37 – a 3-Series size car – to the UK and Europe, but already they’re tweaking and titivating to make it more appealing.
The Infiniti G37 range consists of three body styles – saloon, coupe and convertible – and all three get the 3.7 litre V6 and a seven-speed auto ‘box with paddle-shift as standard, with new alloys and paint colours offered across the range.
The Infiniti G Saloon comes in four flavours – G37, G37x GT, G37 x GT Premium and G37 S Premium. There’s a high spec across the range, with stuff like bi-Xenon adaptive cornering lights, power front seats and 18″ alloy wheels standard on the entry-level G37.
Move up to the G37x GT and you can add 4WD to the spec as well as leather and heated seats. The G37 x GT Premium gets more toys such as Cruise, Connectiviti+ HDD, 3oGB Music Box and Bose. Opt for the top of the tree G37 S Premium and you lose the 4WD but get a more overtl sporting setup with 4-Wheel Active Steer, Viscous Limited Slip Diff, sports suspension and better brakes.
The Infiniti G37 Coupe comes in three flavours – G37 GT, G37 S and G37 S Premium – with similar levels of kit to the saloon and the G37 S and G37 S Premium being sports oriented.
Finally, the Infiniti G37 Convertible comes in just one flavour – the G37 GT Premium – with an electric folding top, 19″ alloys and most of the toys in the Infiniti box.
All sounds interesting, and the revamped spec might help Infiniti shift more than the relative handful of cars they have in the last year. They say they’re planning on increasing sales from just 4,500 in 2010 to 7,000 in 2011. Not exactly huge ambitions.
Still, as you have to buy one to find out if they’re any good to drive, it may be ambitious after all.
