2011 Mazda2 Facelift revealed
Mon, 23 Aug 2010The Mazda2 gets tweaked for 2011
Well, it’s sort of the 2011 facelift for the Mazda2, but that rather depends on what direction you come at this from. If you look at the UK and Euro offerings for the last year this is definitely a new nose and interior tweaks for the Mazda 2, but if you read our report in October 2009 about Mazda 2s coming off the production line in Thailand you’ll see that our ‘New, Facelift Mazda 2′ looks exactly the same as the Mazda 2 Facelift the Thai car got almost two years ago.
But we have to be sensible and look at this from a domestic point of view – even if we do find it off that Mazda has taken two years to give the UK and Europe the updates coming out of Thailand two years ago. So what are the changes you can look for in the 2011 Mazda 2?
The new nose we’ve already covered – which makes the Mazda 2 fit in with the rest of its siblings – and the interior gets tweaked and upgraded. The chassis of the Mazda 2 gets a tweak to make it a tad more comfortable and you can now opt for an auto ‘box.
And really, that’s about it unless we go in to the minutia of the engine changes Mazda has implemented; but they’ve only done that to comply with Euro 5, which comes in to play in January 2011, and it would seem the changes make no difference to anything apart from their compliance with Euro 5.
Seems a long time to wait – two years – to get what amounts to the new nose introduced in other markets two years ago and little more.
Good job we have a soft spot for Mazdas.
