There was nothing much to get too excited about with the 2011 facelift for the Volkswagen Eos. When VW revealed the Eos facelift last month at Frankfurt there was little more on offer than a bit of a nose job to bring the Eos up to date with Volkswagen’s family nose.
True, VW has played a bit at the back end and there’s talk of more ‘Premium’ interiors on the 2011 Eos, but it all adds up to not very much. But a facelift – even one as minimal as that on the 2011 Eos – is a good time to trot out a price increase, which is what VW has done.
Starting price for the 2011 VW Eos will be £22,895. That’s over £2,000 up on the old model, although just under £450 can be accounted for by the new 20% vat rate from January. Still, that’s a price increase at the bottom end of over £1500.
We should be fair to VW and point out that the old starting price is for the Eos S, which has been dropped, and the price increase on the SE is around £600. But that still makes the entry point on the Eos up by £1.5k.
That bottom end on the Eos is now the SE 1.4-litre TSI BlueMotion Technology which comes in at £22,895 and rises to £30,320 for the Eos Exclusive 2.0-litre TDI BlueMotion Technology with the DSG box (which is £1700 up).
On sale now with first cars due early 2011. Don’t rush.
