2011 VW Sharan: Price and model detail
Thu, 21 Oct 2010The VW Sharan 2011 - we have price and model details
It was back at the Geneva Motor Show that we brought you news of the 201o VW Sharan, a complete reworking of the Sharan, this time on a VW platform instead of a shared Ford Galaxy one.
We said at the time that we’d bring you more detail when VW sorted out price and model detail, but we didn’t expect it to take nearly eight months. Which is why we decided the headline on this story should reference the 2011 VW Sharan instead of the 2010 VW Sharan.
But whatever year you want to tag the new VW Sharan with we’ve now got prices and model details so you can pop off to your VW dealers and place an order, just as long as you have at least £22,980 burning a hole in your pocket, the list price for the entry-level Sharan – the Sharan S 1.4 litre TSI.
VW are offering a choice of four trim levels on the new Sharan – S, SE, SEL and Executive – all of which come with seven seats (actually, the ‘Posh’ Executive trim comes with six individual seats complete with armrests and ‘Vienna’ leather) which feature VW’s new EasyFold seating.
EasyFold allows rows two and three to be stowed in the floor if not needed instead of being removed. Row two also gets a new tilting mechanism to allow easy, one-handed access to the back row of seats.
Other standard kit across the Sharan model range includes ABS, ESP, curtain airbags for all seats, eight-speaker DAB, Climate, iPod connection and twin sliding doors. Options include Adaptive Chassi Control (ACC) and 2nd Gen Park Assist which allows self-park – apart from brake and throttle inputs – in end-on and parallel parking situations.
The new VW Sharan looks a decent bit of kit. We haven’t driven one yet so we don’t know what it’s like on the road, but it’s decent looking – in a ‘Van with Windows’ kind of way – and well equipped.
But why is just the lowest powered diesel engine in Executive trim?
