2012 Honda Civic UK Prices & Specs revealed

The 2012 Honda Civic may be more of an evolution of the old Civic than a radical departure, but it does seem to offer a decent package, and one designed to cope with UK roads too.

We already know plenty about the 2012 Civic, from its new suspension and dynamics – tuned to UK roads, no less – to the improved engines with better economy and lower emissions, thanks to an endless tease from Honda, but one which was at least informative.

And now we get to the meat of the new Civic, with UK prices, models and specifications revealed. Which is perhaps just as well as the 2012 Civic is available to order now with the first new Civics arriving in January 2012.

Starting point for the Civic is £16,495, which will bring you the entry-level Civic 1.4-litre 100PS i-VTEC SE. The SE trim level offers a reasonable level of goodies with Honda’s i-MD 5″ info display, daytime running lights and headlight delay.

AirCon and USB are standard as are 16″ alloys, and if you chuck an extra £1500 at the new Civic Honda will give you a 1.8-litre 142PS i-VTEC petrol engine in SE trim instead of the 1.4-litre. You can also grab the improved 2.2-litre 150PS i-DTEC lump in SE guise for £20,095.

The ES trim level will cost you £18,995 if you want the 1.8 litre petrol or £21,095 for the diesel. Extra goodies include Cruise, parking camera, remote windows and mirrors, Bluetooth, auto lights and wipers and better sound. There’s also a ‘T-Grade Package’ for SE and ES models which adds touch screen SatNav.

Still want to spend more?

The EX trim is one down from the top of the range and will cost you £21,745 for the 1.8 litre petrol and £23,845 for the 2.2 litre diesel, but you will get full Leather, premium audio and a HDD SatNav.

If you’re feeling flush – or its someone else’s money – the pinnacle of Civic-ness is the EX GT.

Again, the petrol is the cheaper option of the Civic EX GT at £24,495, with the diesel option coming in at £26,595. But for the extra money you do get more ‘stuff’ like keyless, parking sensors, bi-Xenons, panoramic roof, 17″ alloys and Privacy.

Honda are also bringing along some big car tech to the Civic – although not as standard – with Adaptive Cruise and Honda’s CMBS System (it’s supposed to stop you hitting things and brakes for you). But you can only get these toys as an add-on for the EX GT, and they’ll cost you an extra £1,900.

With over 20 million Civics already sold in the almost 40 years since the Civic hit the road, Honda know how to put together a reliable and appealing car. The new Civic does look to offer the best for drivers too, with its extensive dynamic revisions, so its not necessarily just a car for your mum to go shopping in anymore.

And it’s built in Britain.
