The 2012 Mercedes A-Class is being teased on video ahead of a Geneva 2012 debut in conjunction with a ‘QR Code’ competition.
With Detroit pretty much done and dusted, it’s time for car makers to begin teasing their offerings for Geneva 2012 (which we saw some of even before Detroit). Today it’s the turn of Mercedes with a video tease for the 2012 Mercedes A-Class, coupled with a competition too (although that seems to be just for Germany).
Mercedes are running a number of new A-Class models round a handful of German cities complete with camouflage that includes a QR code. Car spotters are being encouraged to snap the QR code that will interact with an iPhone or Android app (downloadable from February).
Once the app is installed, you can collect four different badges to enter the competition, from the camouflaged A-Classes and Facebook and Twitter. The winner of the competition will be invited to the launch of the Mercedes A-Class in Geneva in March. But as we said, unless you’re one of our German readers this is just a tease for the new A-Class.
As for the car itself, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it looks more like the Mercedes Concept A-Class, rather than the rather prosaic image submitted of the A-Class by Mercedes to the European patent office.
No doubt we’ll find out before long.
