2013 Hyundai Santa Fe UK: Price, Spec, new photos & video
Thu, 04 Oct 2012With the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe about to go on sale (October 15th) we have new UK photos and video and full Santa Fe details.
So with the new Santa Fe about to go on sale we though we’d update the details and publish new photos and video for the UK (although there are no swooning beauties in the UK Santa Fe Video – unlike the Dutch one).
Hyundai say that their aim with the new Santa Fe was to build on the existing package (which, let’s face it, was a cheap alternative to the offerings from the likes of BMW, Land Rover et al) but add in better looks, better technology and lower running costs.
We won’t know for sure if Hyundai has hit its target with the new Santa Fe until they send us one to play with for a while, but on the face of it – a good looking face too – they seemed to have moved the game on for the Santa Fe very well.
Underpinning the new Santa Fe is a new platform – that just happens to be the same size as the old one – although the new Santa Fe is lower and longer than the old model making the seven seat option a more practical proposition, even if the UK doesn’t get the LWB Santa Fe the ‘mericans get.
But it’s in the looks and quality department the Santa Fe seems to have achieved most. The new shape is a big improvement on the old, rather boxy, shape and the Santa Fe now looks much more premium than before.
Inside, the premium notion takes hold too with decent quality materials and a nice, simple facia without a surfeit of buttons to clutter up the dash. Toys abound too – depending on the model you choose – including stuff like reversing camera and automatic parking.
Under the skin it’s the same 2.2 litre CDI engine, but it’s been tweaked and improved with fuel consumption improved by 11.5 per cent on the manual and 5.8 % on the auto, a broader spread of torque and power and emissions cut by 9.7 per cent.
Hyundai reckon the new Santa Fe will sell at the same rate as the old model – around 4800 a year – and that 90 per cent of sales will be the 4WD models, the majority of which would be the Premium spec. For our money we’d take the 4WD auto with Premium SE spec and seven seats which, at £34,395, is the most expensive model but probably offers more for the money than anything comparable.
The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe goes on sale on 15th October starting at £25,495 for the 2.2 CRDi 5 seat 2WD Style manual and topping out at the aforementioned 2.2 CRDi 7 seat 4WD automatic Premium SE. It’s a chunk more than the old Santa Fe, but if the reality turns out as well as the expectation it will still be a very good deal for a full sized SUV.
