2013 Kia Carens heading for Paris 2012 debut
Wed, 19 Sep 2012Kia has revealed the all new Kia Carens compact MPV with a modified cee’d platform and 5 and 7 seat options. Paris 2012 debut.
Kia has taken the wraps off its stylish new Carens compact MPV ahead of its Paris world premiere and the biggest news for families is that the company will offer both five and seven-seat versions of the model.
The all-new Carens is a far more tempting proposition than the model it replaces, with pronounced slashes running across the front and rear doors, providing an athletic and less slab-sided look.
At the front, the model adopts Kia’s trademark ‘bow-tie’ grille, while upswept headlights, similar to those featured on the C’eed small family car. At the rear, smart LED taillights are a welcome addition, lending the Carens an upmarket look.
Inside, the car will feature high-quality materials including rubberised controls for the heating and ventilation and a textured dash; gloss-black trim will feature prominently on the centre console. Top models are likely to benefit from a host of high-tech equipment including self-levelling xenon headlights, lane departure warning system and satellite navigation with European mapping.
Under the skin, the third-generation Carens sits on a modified version of the C’eed platform, meaning that buyers can expect sharper driving dynamics than the outgoing model. The Carens is expected to share the same engine line-up of the C’eed too, meaning a choice of 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines.
Expect to see the Carens in showrooms from March 2013, with a £16,500 price tag.
