2013 Lexus LS range to include LS 460 F Sport

The 2013 Lexus LS will be revealed on 30th July and will include a new sport version of the big Lexus saloon – the Lexus LS 460 F Sport.

The Lexus LS is the Lexus everyone knows; the Lexus that started it all.

The LS is big and safe and well-built and is, to all intents and purposes, the Japanese Mercedes S Class. But no one has thought of the Lexus LS as a sport offering – but that’s possibly about to change.

Lexus has revealed on its Facebook page this afternoon that they will be revealing the 2013 Lexus LS on the 30th of July, and in addition to the usual suspects there will be a Lexus LS 460 F Sport.

Before you get too excited, it’s perfectly possible that Lexus will decline to deliver their new ‘Sporty’ LS to the UK (after all, we have Hobson’s choice at the moment with the Lexus LS 600 the only model on offer).

But with the new-found penchant by Lexus (and Toyota) to deliver cars that are a bit more interesting for the driver who likes to be ‘involved’, we hope Lexus will do the right thing and offer the LS 460 F Sport in the UK too.

What exactly an LS 460 F Sport means we’re not entirely sure. Will it be the regular 4.6 litre V8 the LS gets in other markets with some suspension tweaks, the new Lexus grill and a body kit? Or will Lexus do something really interesting and give the new LS some proper performance?

We’ll find out at the end of July – if not before.
