2013 Mercedes E-Class Coupe & Convertible Facelift revealed

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

Mercedes has revealed the facelift for the 2013 E Class Convertible and Coupe – adding to the Saloon and Estate updates we saw in December.

The changes to the E-Class Coupe and Convertible are similar to those on the estate and saloon, with new single headlights instead of the E-Class’s familiar double headlights (although the LED running lights up the middle of the headlight conspire to make it look like it still has twin lights), new bumpers and LED tail lights.

But the E-Class Coupe and Convertible don’t the sheet metal changes the saloon an d estate get, so the Coupe and Convertible retain the pontoon rear haunches to set them apart from the four-door E-Class models.

Inside, the Coupe and Convertible get similar tweaks to the saloon and estate with the gear lever moved from the centre console to the steering column (which, to those of a certain age, seems almost retro) for the auto ‘box (7 speed).

Extra equipment on the new Coupe and Convertible include stuff like Collision Prevention Assist and Attention Assist as well as optional stuff like the stereo camera that a 3d view up to 50 metres in front, Active Parking ASsist and a 360-degree camera for a bird’s-eye view when parking.

Under the bonnet the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet get a choice of a 2.0 litre petrol in 181bhp guise in the E200 and 208bhp in the E250, a 2.1 litre diesel with 168bhp in the E220CDI and 201bhp in the E250 CDI, and a 3,0 litre V6 diesel with 248bhp in the E350.

We don’t have prices for the 2013 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Convertible, but they’re not expec ted to be much different to the current model (which starts at £33k for the E220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupe).

Both the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are expected to arrive in Mercedes UK showrooms by the summer – a few months after the new E-Class Saloon and Estate – after a debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week.
