2013 Porsche Cayman debut at Los Angeles
Fri, 09 Nov 2012The 2013 Porsche Cayman has been confirmed by Porsche to debut at the 2012 Los Angels Auto Show later this month.
The new Porsche Cayman has been on the way for quite a while. As long ago as October 2011 we ran a video of Porsche’s new 911, new Bosxter and new Cayman out on the sleepy streets of San Francisco but now it appears the last of the three to be revealed - the new Cayman – is heading for this month’s L.A. Auto Show.
Porsche has emailed us this morning to say they will have a ‘…world premiere of a compact sports car at the LA Auto Show‘, and we must assume it’s the new Cayman. Either that, or Porsche has bought in to the VW BlueSport project and kept it quiet until now. Which is highly unlikely.
So the new Cayman is the racing certainty and, as is Porsche’s way, will be a distinct evolution of the Cayman; there will be nothing radical, certainly in design terms.
Expect more power for the new Cayman with around 280bhp on offer in the Cayman and 330bhp in the Cayman S, which could mean the Cayman S getting down to around 4.5 seconds 0-62mph. Looks will be a nip and tuck here and there and an interior likely to be lifted from the new Boxster. Which is no bad thing.
No doubt Porsche will step up with more detail on the 2013 Cayman as the LA Auto Show gets closer.
