2013 Porsche Panamera facelift & new Panamera S E-Hybrid revealed UPDATED + video
Tue, 02 Apr 2013The 2013 / 2014 facelift for the Porsche Panamera has been revealed, together with a new Panamera S E-Hybrid with 410bhp.
Update: We published this story before Porsche officially revealed details, but we covered most of the news on the Panamera facelift accurately.
As well as the new E-Hybrid (for which Porsche are actually claiming 91mpg), there will also be a new long wheelbase Panamera ‘Executive’ model with 15cm extra in the wheelbase.
The new Panameras will launch in July 2013 with a new 300bhp V6 diesel arriving in 2014 together with new versions of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S and Panamera Turbo S Executive.
The Porsche Panamera arrived at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2009, and the facelift for the Panamera will arrive at the same show later this month as Porsche tweaks its four-door saloon to keep it fresh for a few more years.
As expected, the bulk of the changes to the Panamera for 2013 model (or 2014 MY if you’re on the wrong side of the Pond) are the usual tweaks to bumpers and lights and a titivate for the interior.
But Porsche has taken some cues from the Panamera Sport Turismo and made an effort to make the back end look a bit less like a dog humping and a bit more like the back end of an appealing four-door GT, with tweaks to the back window and a new spoiler.
But it’s under the skin where the big changes are taking place, with the launch of a new Panamera S E-Hybrid which gets a new 3.0 litre V6 and an electric motor – which we assume is the same 333PS V6 and 95PS electric motor from the Sport Turismo – promising to deliver official economy figures of 81mpg and a plug-in range of up to 22 miles.
Also changed is the Panamera S and 4S that loses its 4.8 litre naturally aspirated V8 and instead get the new twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 with 413bhp.
Porsche haven’t released official details yet, but as soon as they do we’ll update.
