2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid to start at $35,970
Mon, 28 Oct 2013
Nissan has released pricing for the Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid range for the 2014 model year. The Hybrid version of the Pathfinder is all new for 2014, and it will be offered in a total of six versions.
All Pathfinder Hybrid models use a supercharged 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, which draws power from a compact Lithium-ion battery. The hybrid system in the Pathfinder uses the Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System that channels power from the gas engine and the electric engine simultaneously, with the two engines providing performance almost on par with the 3.5-liter V6 gas version of the Pathfinder. The Hybrid produces 250 net hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, just 10 hp short of the gas-only 3.5-liter V6 version of the truck. The Pathfinder Hybrid also uses Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission, along with regenerative braking, which will work to recharge the electric battery.
The Hybrid returns 28 mpg highway fuel economy and 25 mpg city, according to Nissan, for a combined 26 mpg. The 26-mpg figure represents an increase of 24 percent over the standard gas-powered Pathfinder.
Nissan
Expect 24 percent better gas mileage in the Hybrid than in the gas model.
The entry-level model in the range will be the Pathfinder SV 2WD Hybrid, which will start at $35,970. The 2WD SL model will start at $38,910, while the Platinum version of the 2WD Pathfinder Hybrid will start at $43,610. The Pathfinder Hybrid will also be offered with four-wheel drive--expect the price of entry for that model to be $37,570. The top of the line version of the Hybrid is the Pathfinder Platinum; that model will start at $45,210.
The entry-level gas versions of the Pathfinder all use the 3.5-liter V6 gas engine, and they will now range in price from $29,710 to $42,210.
