2014 Porsche Panamera V6 Diesel Facelift gets more power

When Porsche revealed the facelift for the Panamera in April, we commented that we could expect a new V6 diesel to arrive in the Panamera for 2014 with around 300bhp. And here it is. The new Porsche Panamera V6 diesel gets the same tweaks to bumpers and lights as the rest of the range – and modest though they are, they do make the Panamera look a little less bulbous – but the most appealing news is a bit more oomph from Porsche’s entry-level diesel Panamera.
The now more powerful Porsche version of Audi’s V6 turbo diesel comes with an extra 49bhp – putting the available power up to a much more appealing 296bhp – as well as 74lb/ft more torque (now 479lb/ft).
That increase in power and torque is enough to scoot the not exactly lightweight V6 Panamera diesel to 62mph in 6.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 161mph, all the time – assuming your right foot isn’t permanently nailed to the carpet – marginally improving economy to 44.1mpg.
Porsche has also had a play with the eight-speed ZF gearbox in the Panamera and added torque vectoring to the standard equipment list for better traction and performance.
The 2014 Porsche Panamera V6 Diesel goes on sale in November.
