The facelifted Renault Megane (pictured) costs from £16,745

Renault has given the Megane a bit of a facelift for 2014, and the tweaked Megane debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Now the new Megane has gone on sale in the UK – as a Hatchback, Coupe and Sport Tourer – with prices starting at £16,745 for the Expression+ 1.6 VVT 110 Hatch, rising to £26,925 for the Renaultsport 265 Coupe.

The changes wrought by Renault for the Megane are relatively minor, with a new family nose (a lot like the new Clio), new lights, tweaked bonnet, new Renault badge and some very minor interior changes including the addition of Renault’s R-Link Media system as an option.

There are four trim levels available (plus the Renaultsport) - Expression+ (although you can’t have that on the Coupé), Knight Edition, Dynamique TomTom and GT-Line TomTom and Renault say that, compared to the pre-facelift Megane, it’s £1200 cheaper for the Energy dCi 110 and dCi 130 engines across the trim options, £850 cheaper for the 1.5 dCi 110 Auto EDC and £275 for the 1.2 TCe 115.

You can grab a hatch from £16,745, a Coupe from £17,645, a Sport Tourer and £26,925 for the Renaultsport 265 (and an extra £1,350 if you want the Cup Chassis) with Climate standard on the Dynamique TomTom, LED running lights on the Expression+ and R-L:ink now and option on the GT-Line.

The new engine lineup includes the 1.2 TCe 115 on the Expression+ with EDC versions of the 1.2 TCe 130 and dCi 110 on the GT Line TomTom, but the 1.5 dCi 90 and 2.0 dCi 165 have been dropped.

There’s plenty of ways to add goodies to the Megane, with a choice of option packs adding extra stuff – Vision Pack, R-Link Pack, Parking Pack, Look Pack, Smart Pack and leather Pack (plus the Cup Chassis Pack for the Renaultsport 265) – if you want to splash the cash.

The 2014 Renault Meganje is now on sale with first customer cars due in January 2014.
