2014 Volkswagen Scirocco & Scirocco R facelift tweaks the old Scirocco
Mon, 17 Feb 2014The 2014 Volkswagen Scirocco (pictured) gets a facelift
Before you get too excited, the 2014 Volkswan Scirocco isn’t a nice new version of the Scirocco based on the new Golf Mark 7, but a minor titivate designed to make the ageing Scirocco look a little fresher. Volkswagen has employed the usual facelift tweaks to make the 2014 Scirocco look subtly different to the current model with new bumpers, modified grill, new bi-xenons, new LED tail lights and black diffuser at the back.
There’s also a new range of colours on offer and, although the standard Scirocco gets 17″ alloys, you can option 18 and 19″ too.
Inside there’s a new instrument binnacle and, as a nod to the original Scirocco, a set of extra gauges too and some minor tweaks to the trim.
Under the bonnet are arguably the biggest changes, with petrol option as the 1.4 litre with 123bhp or the 2.0 litre petrol with 177 or 217bhp. The Scirocco now gets 276bhp – up bu 15bhp – and the 2.0 litre diesel comes in either 148bhp or 181bhp, all with a six speed manual box or the option of a six-speed DSG ‘box (except the 1.4 TSI).
The 2014 VW Scirocco facelift will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month before going on sale in the UK. It seems likley prices will remain much the same as the current model Scirocco which range from £20,525 for the 1.4 TSI to £33,385 for the Scirocco R with the DSG ‘box.
