The 2015 Dodge Charger is getting shown off at the New York auto show this week. The muscle sedan gets a freshened exterior, a DOHC 3.6-liter 300-hp V6 capable of 31 mpg highway and a standard eight-speed automatic transmission with sport mode the company claims reduces shift times 37 percent. The 5.7-liter 370-hp Hemi V8 is optional.
Dodge says the new Charger offers more than 80 available safety and security features, including new-for-2015 full-speed forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with full stop, lane-departure warning, rear parking assistance and 911 assist/call.

The 2015 Dodge Charger gets a more rounded racetrack rear fascia.
The company claims every body panel on the 2015 Charger is new -- hood, fenders, doors, the works -- but we'll be the first to admit a lot of the changes (save for the front end) are pretty subtle. Dodge says its designers used the '69 Charger's Coke-bottle design and scalloped body sides as inspiration.
The front end has a new crosshair grille, LED fog lamps and projector-beam headlamps that are reminiscent of the Dodge Avenger sedan. The rear-end makeover includes a more-pronounced fastback appearance and shorter rear overhang. The new three-piece spoiler is more integrated into the decklid and the LED tail lamp is based on the Durango's continuous ribbon of light.

The 2015 Dodge Charger gets refreshed interior styling though the general theme is familiar.
The interior is new, as well, with a revamped instrument panel and redone 7-inch, thin-film transistor (TFT) gauges and a new three-spoke steering wheel. The car comes in four models: SE, SXT (available with rear- or all-wheel drive), R/T and R/T Road & Track (rear drive), all built at the Brampton (Ont.) Assembly Plant in Canada. Production begins this fall.
