Tue, 30 Sep 2014The 2015 VW on sale 7th October from £22,215
The latest Volkswagen Passat – the eighth generation, no less – was revealed in July as a sleeker, lighter and more upmarket Passat – one which could be an Audi if the badges were changed – as VW try once again to deliver a Passat that will make a real mark in its sector. Based on VW’s MQB platform, the new Passat gets a more rounded look, swept back headlights and a back end that looks more appealing and is set to go on sale on 7 October in VW’s UK showrooms.
VW are only offering diesel engine options at launch, with a choice of a 118bhp 1.6 litre, a 2.0 litre with 148bhp or 187bhp and a 2.0 litre bi-turbo with 237bhp, DSG ‘box and 4MOTION.
The recently revealed Passat GTE plug-in hybrid won’t be available until October 2015, a BlueMotion version version with a 1.6 litre and 78mpg joining in June 2015 and an Alltrack version of the Passat Estate arriving in July 2015.
Five trim levels are on offer – S, SE, SE Business, GT and R-Line – with Post Collision Braking and misfuelling prevention on all trim levels, Fron Assist, Active Cruise, Pre-Crash, Driver Profile, Ergo Comfort Seats and Parking Sensors from the SE up, Discover Nav on the SE Business, heated Alcantara seats, Climate and 18″ alloys on the GT and the R-Line getting a butch body kit and R-Line titivation.
It will take until the end of 2015 for stuff like the Active Info Display – a 12.3″ TFT display replacing the traditional instruments – and heads-up display to be available.
There’s also a wide range of technology options on the new Passat including Car-Net Guide, Pedestrian Protection, Traffic Jam Assist, Emergency Assist and Trailer Assist.
The 2015 VW Passat goes on sale on 7 October with prices starting at £22,215 for the 1.6 TDI 120 PS S with six-speed manual ‘box rising to £35,505 for the 2.0 BiTDI SCR 240 PS 7 speed DSG R-Line. Estate versions cost an extra £1,530.
