257mpg Volkswagen Twin Up! concept stars at the Tokyo Motor Show 2013

Volkswagen has rolled out yet another Up! city car-based concept for the Tokyo Motor Show 2013. Don’t worry though – the Twin Up! IS different. Beneath the mildly aero-optimised bodywork of this artfully wrought white cube lies the beating heart of VW’s XL1 eco supercar.

The result is an Up! that combines a diesel engine with an electric motor to achieve a mind-blowing 256.8mpg – all for less than a fifth of a cost of its slippery powertrain benefactor. Surely, you want to know more?
