AMG-inspired Cigarette boat to appear at Miami boat show

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Polish up those white loafers and pick up a ticket to Florida, 'cause the 2013 Miami International Boat Show is nearly here. With its aquatic focus, the marine expo is a welcome break from the long list of annual motor shows -- but that doesn't mean automakers won't play any possible angle to ensure they have a presence at the event.

That's why Mercedes-Benz has once again teamed up with go-fast boat maker Cigarette to bring an AMG-inspired vessel to the show. The result is the 42-foot Cigarette Huntress, which reportedly takes cues from the outrageous G63 AMG. It doesn't get much more lifestyle than that.

The Huntress' top speed is 78 mph. That's only about half of what an AMG vehicle will do, but it's nothing to sneeze at on the water -- and really, all that matters is that you're faster than the Coast Guard anyway.

So how much AMG actually made it onboard?

Not much, as it turns out -- all five 350-hp outboard engines were sourced from Mercury. There is a large AMG decal on the side, though, and we suspect one could tow the boat and its trailer with a properly equipped G-Wagen.

Gibbs Sports Amphibians will also have a display at the event. We took a ride on their recently released Quadski back in October, and though the amphibious ATV was fun enough to ride on a chilly Michigan autumn day, we wouldn't mind seeing how it does in the Miami sun.
