Amelia Island concours teases headliner
Tue, 08 Dec 2009Usually teaser shots hint at the future, but this one is a glimpse of the past--and of one of headliners of the 2010 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.
A shot was released this week of an aluminum body before restoration. It's the skin of a 1940s roadster that will be one of the spotlight cars at the March 12-14 concours in Florida.
The 15th-annual event is again expected to draw a field of rare, vintage cars from around the world. The honoree this year is stock-car legend Richard Petty.
Last year, the concours drew more than 15,000 car enthusiasts and 250 cars from seven countries. Best in show went to a 1931 Voisin C20 Demi-Berline, and the concours de sport award was given to a 1923 Miller Special 122 Supercharged.
