Aspid (which were IFR Aspid) – Spanish sports car maker – is teasing a new sports car to be revealed in the next few weeks.

Aspid is a Spanish maker of sports cars responsible for the rather retro – at least in styling – SuperSport model.

We caught up with the Aspid SuperSport at Salon Prive a couple of years ago, and we were impressed by a Caterham-style car offering very high levels of fit and finish and a remarkable 0-62mph in under 3 seconds. Yes, it cost £100k, but it was impressive.

If Aspid can take what’s under the SuperSport and clothe it in something more contemporary – which is what the teaser image above seems to indicate – they could produce something rather appealing.

We hope the move to a more contemporary design and the rumoured V8 Hybrid power don’t take away the light and dynamic appeal of the SuperSport – or push the price to properly silly levels – but it looks like we’ll have to wait a few weeks to find out.

But the new Aspid Sports car could be very interesting.
