Aston Martin Cygnet preview
Mon, 29 Jun 2009Aston Martin has developed a new 'innovative commuter concept car' called the Cygnet. If you're thinking it looks like the design team's placed a downsized Aston Martin grille onto a Toyota iQ, you wouldn't be far off. The luxury commuter concept, which Aston Martin claims will 'offer customers a distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury' is actually based on the diminutive urban runabout and was created in collaboration with the Japanese automaker.
Though the car is not yet available, Aston Martin Chief Executive Dr Ulrich Bez believes it "could become reality in the not too distant future." Bez, who also stated that the concept is "akin to an exclusive tender to a luxury yacht", plans to offer the Cygnet along with the purchase of a DBS, DB9 or Vantage. "Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this first bold step to embark on this special project," Bez said, "[It] will allow us to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and brand values to a completely new segment of the market."
