Aston Martin finally reveals official V12 Zagato pictures
Thu, 09 Feb 2012AM finally releases official photos of the production V12 Zagato
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato finally gets its production car debut in Kuwait next week, and Aston manage to release a few official photos.
It does seem odd that when AM has published the brochure for the Aston Martin V12 Zagato online (admittedly you had to hunt it out), complete with a fair number of photos, that they hadn’t got round to releasing any new official photos of the V12 Zagato to an eager fan base. But they’ve now managed to fix that, by releasing just three new photos.
With just trhree new photos of the V12 Zagato it didn’t seem worth putting up a new gallery, so we’ve just added them to the gallery below of photos we culled from the online PDF. But, moans apart, the V12 Zagato is a fine looking beast, perhaps with the exception of the rather ugly spoiler bolted to the boot lid.
Aston Martin are keen to point out the hand-made nature of the V12 Zagato (well, they do need to justify a price that’s three times the donor car), so they tell us that, just like the AM One-77, the V12 Zagato takes 2,000 man hours to carefully shape the body panels to add the Zagato flair to the bog-standard V12 Vantage. They don’t tell us that all the craftsmanship is actually done by CPP – which also built the One-77 – but it is.
In Europe we’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see the V12 Zagato when it gets its ‘home’ debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, where we may get to see another of the four special colours created just for the Zagato - Scintilla Silver, Alloro Green, Alba Blue and Diavolo Red.
We don’t know how many of the 150 examples being built are already sold, but AM do say that the Aston Martin V12 Zagato is now on sale at £330,000 (+vat) with first deliveries in the autumn.
Just in case you have a spare £396,000 to invest in an automotive work of art.
