Audi has officially revealed the facelift for the Q5 at the Beijing Motor Show. Minor cosmetic tweaks and engine revisions.
We revealed the 2012 facelift for the Audi Q5 at the weekend, although Audi hadn’t actually got round to doing it themselves. But now they have so we can update with the official details and extra photos of the not much changed 2012 Q5.
The cosmetic teaks for the Q5 amount to nothing more than minor fiddling, with slightly modified grill, headlights, bumpers and rear diffuser. And the changes are so small we probably shouldn’t even call this a Q5 facelift. More like a Q5 lunchtime tweak.
Under the skin the Q5 gets a choice of five engines – two petrol and three diesel - although there will be a hybrid Q5 before long with the 2.0 litre TFSI and 45hp electric motor.
Diesel engines are the 2.0 litre four-pot with either 141bhp or 175bhp. Economy is improved to 53mpg in the FWD 141bhp and 47.1mpg in the quattro 175bhp with s-tronic ‘box. The a 3.0 litre V6 diesel can manage 44.1mpg, comes with a 7-speed S tronic ‘box, quattro 4WD and a 0-62mph of 6.5 seconds.
Petrol engines are the 2.0 litre TFSI, which delivers 223bhp and averages 37mpg, but the biggest engine news is probably the dropping of the old 3.2 TFSI in favour of the new 3.0 litre supercharged V6. In the Q5 the S/C V6 develops 268bhp, averages 33mpg and can get to 62mph in 5.9 seconds.
It looks like Audi may slip in a small price increase when the updated Q5 arrives in the UK in the summer, but no confirmation yet.
