Audi launches showrooms without cars in London
Mon, 16 Jul 2012Audi has opened its first digital showroom in London – Audi City – a fully digital showroom for Audi’s entire range near Piccadilly Circus.
It’s something of a dilemma for car makers; how to sell their cars in a world that now revolves around the internet and digital access?
Traditional car showrooms seem very last century, but choosing a car from a screen at home is still something many are reluctant to do. But Audi may have the answer with its new digital showroom – Audi City.
Audi City is the first digital Audi showroom in the world and opens this week in London’s Piccadilly, offering huge banks of digital screens to showcase Audi’s cars at full size and in huge detail.
Customers visiting Audi City will be able to see Audi’s entire range in 1:1 scale on screens that fill the showroom, choose colours, equipment options and functions and see their resulting choices on the digital screens.
Not only will customers be able to view their specced-up car in life-size detail, they can also see technical details like drivetrain and bodyshell in huge detail too – far more information and detail than a traditional car showroom can ever offer.
The Audi City concept gives Audi the chance to fit showrooms showing their entire range in much smaller premises in the heart of major cities and they are planning to roll out at least 20 more Audi City showrooms in major capitals around the world in the next three years.
The digital car showroom has arrived.
