Audi quattro concept to be on display at Lake Como concours in Italy
Wed, 18 May 2011
If you liked the Audi quattro concept we saw at the 2010 Paris motor show, you have another chance to see it live this weekend--but you will have to cross the pond.
It will appear Friday to Sunday at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como in Italy. Though the concours is usually reserved for antique iron, this year's show will feature a section just for concepts and prototypes. Audi has entered the quattro concept as a show car, which means it will be judged by the attendees.
The RS5-based prototype is a celebration of 30 years of the quattro. It rides on the same platform, but it's shortened considerably. The overhangs were reduced and the smooth flowing lines of the RS5 were ditched in favor of sharp ones with Cadillac-style angles.
The Audi quattro concept has a 408-hp turbocharged five-cylinder engine, a lightweight body made from aluminum and carbon, and rear-biased all-wheel drive.
In addition to the concepts, 54 historic cars will be vying for awards in eight vehicle classes.
