Four Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs appeared on the screen. Red, gorgeous and iconic.
"Which one's real? Which one's a rendering?" asked Philip Lunn, PixelMags chairman and Bunkspeed CEO.
"Does it matter?" he pondered.
For the record, the real SLS was the one on the right--which was imperceptible.
At the AutoWeek Design Forum on Thursday, Lunn spoke of the evolving technology his companies pioneer that is changing the way designers do their jobs to craft breathtaking style.
Lunn pointed out a young designer's computer-enhanced take on a potential 2012 Chevrolet Corvette, which garnered more than 1.7 million page views on the Internet.
"What if people like this one better than the one they [Chevy] designed?" he asked.
Three-dimensional renderings give designers greater freedom than ever before, Lunn said, and it helps create new perspectives.
"The future can be whatever you want," he said.
