Autoweek in review: What you may have missed
Fri, 10 Feb 2012
At the start of the week, our own Dutch Mandel offered his take on the best and worst of the automotive Super Bowl XLVI commercials. Check out his column here, and see the Super Bowl commercials for yourself at shopautoweek.com.
One of the more popular Super Bowl ads came courtesy of Chevrolet and the indie band OK Go. Known for its outlandishly simple music videos, OK Go turned the all-new Chevy Sonic into an instrument.
We brought you the story of a father who posted a Craigslist ad in an effort to get his autistic teenage daughter, who just happens to be a car nut, a ride in a supercar. Little did he know she wouldn't get just one--she'd get 18.
The consumer-oriented Chicago auto show kicked off press days this week, and our editors were there to cover all of the stories. Some of the vehicles we looked at were the Kia Track'ster concept, a special-edition Mazda MX-5, the new Acura ILX sedan, a refreshed Nissan 370Z and the topless Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has proved to be quite popular with the Autoweek staff. In nine months, we've racked up more than 22,500 miles with no complaints.
Even before Chicago was fully behind us, buzz started for the Geneva motor show in March. A couple of the latest announcements include the production Aston Martin V12 Zagato and the Chevrolet Cruze wagon, a European exclusive that will debut.
Also for the Geneva motor show, Audi has revealed its latest Porsche fighter, the Audi TT RS plus. This 355-hp two-seater will come in either coupe or convertible form.
Finally, Tesla revealed its latest vehicle, the all-wheel-drive, seven-passenger pseudo-SUV, the Model X.
