BMW DesignworksUSA to revamp Singapore Airlines
Tue, 28 Aug 2012BMW DesignworksUSA has been set the task of developing Singapore Airlines' new First Class seats and cabin interior.
Given the fast-paced improvement in the quality of premium Asian air travel – Emirates and Cathay Pacific are two examples – Singapore Airlines has decided to revamp its First Class area while upgrading its in-flight entertainment system.
The chief redesign will be limited to its First and Business Class sections as those are the main sources of revenue but economy passengers will see upgraded headrests and seating.
Laurenz Schaffer, President of BMW Group DesignworksUSA said: "Through both readily apparent elements such as color, textiles and tactile surfaces, together with subtle holistic details that reveal themselves over the course of the journey, Singapore Airlines and DesignworksUSA will create a quieter, more spacious and exclusive atmosphere for the First Class passenger who demands nothing but the best."
It's not the first time BMW DesignworksUSA has worked on project in the air, the firm recently showcasing a design concept for Boeing's Business Jet.
Work on this flagship project was kicked off at DesignworksUSA's Singapore studio and will be supported by their Los Angeles, Munich, and Shanghai studios.
