BMW has revealed the M3 Edition Models - available for just 6 months

BMW has released details of a quartet of BMW M3 Edition cars, which is a cosmetic job on the already pretty impressive M3 Coupe. For BMW to do this you’ve probably got to assume that sales on the BMW M Cars are a bit slow at the moment, despite the constant upward growth in the last few years. But never mind, it’s not a bad way to go, and the cars do look pretty good.

The oily bits don’t get changed, with the M3 Edition still sporting the same 4.0 litre, 420bhp V8 we know and love. And it’s still mated to a six-speed manual or BMW’s Drivelogic double clutch ‘box as an option. The only non-cosmetic change is to the suspension, which drops by 10mm.

But it’s the cosmetics that get the treatment here. The M3 Edition is available in just three non-metallic colours – Alpine White, Black or Dakar Yellow – and one metallic – Monte Carlo Blue with some satin gloss dark chrome courtesy of the BMW Individual range. If you opt for a Black or a White car the interior gets a white centre console and armrests with Carbon Structure black Leather and white seams. Opt for either the Dakar Yellow or Monte Carlo Blue and the exterior colour is used throughout the inside.

On the outside you get a set of 19″, M-Series Double-Spoke Alloys, which can be finished in standard alloy or black or -  apart from on the Dakar Yellow cars – you can have white alloys with polished spokes.

The BMW M3 Edition Models go on sale in July – but only for six months – and will no doubt add a bit of impetus to M3 sales. No word on prices, but you can safely assume they will be more than the stock car.

Not normally a fan of White cars – but the M3 Edition does look good in White with those dark alloys.
