BMW X1 gets updated for 2014
Fri, 13 Dec 2013The 2014 BMW X1 (pictured) gets a tweaked front end
The BMW X1 arrived back in 2009 as a high-riding Sports Activity Vehicle (BMW’s preferred description for their compact SUV come crossover) and had a bit of a facelift for 2012 to keep it fresh. Now, two years on from the last facelift, BMW has decided they need to up the ante a little (especially with more competition arriving in the shape of the new Mercedes GLA) so the BMW X1 is getting a mild makeover for 2014.
The only real changes you’ll notice are tweaks to the front end of the X1 with new accents on the bumper and a bigger air intake, daytime running lights across the X1 range, new 17″ alloys and the availability of Sparkling Brown metallic to the paint colour options.
Inside – if you opt for xLine, Sport Line or M Sport trim for your X1 – you’ll get soft touch finish on the dash top with lapfolded seams to make it look and feel a bit more upmarket, a choice of high-gloss Black, matt Coral Red or pearl-gloss Chrome trim and a stainless steel finisher on the tailgate bottom edge.
BMW ConnectedDrive services arrive in the X1 for 2014, so when you tick the option box for SatNav you’ll also get internet access via downloadable Apps.
Not huge changes, but a nip and a tuck doesn’t hurt.
The 2014 BMW X1 will go on sale in spring 2014 with the same range of engines currently on offer and, we expect, prices the same – from £25,755 for the sDrive 20i SE 5dr rising to £35,100 for the xDrive 25d M Sport Auto 5dr.
