The BMW Zagato Coupe – a one-off concept BMW designed by Zagato – has been revealed at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Whilst we’re busy keeping a watchful eye out for the arrival of the new Aston Martin DBS at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este this weekend, up pops a one-off concept from event sponsors BMW – the BMW Zagato Coupe.
Looking like a BMW Z4 with Italian panache in spades (which is what we expect it to be under the skin – BMW aren’t saying) it looks like Aston Martin will have extra competition in the Concept Car category this weekend from BMW with the Zagato Coupe.
The Zagato Coupe is billed as BMW through the eyes of Zagato and is a proper road-going car that’s been tested by BMW, even if there are no plans to build it for production. The flowing double bubble roofline is very Zagato as it falls at the back and even the trademark BMW kidney grill is made up of small ‘Zs’.
The BMW Zagato Coupe is the latest in a line of BMW / Zagato collaborations which include the BMW 3200 Michelotti Vignale from 1959,the BMW 700 from 1959, the BMW 3200 CS Bertone from 1962 and of course the first and so far only BMW supercar – the BMW M1 in 1978.
A cracking way to kick of the Villa D’Este weekend.
