Bentley Mulsanne Convertible floated

Bentley are planning to take the top off the Mulsanne to create a new range-topping drop-top – the Bentley Mulsanne Convertible.

Ever since the Bentley Arnage bit the dust, to be replaced by the Mulsanne, Bentley has been without a convertible at the top of its range.

But that looks set to change if enough potential buyers say ‘yes, please’ to the idea of a Bentley Mulsanne Convertible, which is why Bently has revealed the sketches above (and below) of a possible Mulsanne Convertible.

For some reason this is Bentley’s idea of floating the idea by issuing a set of sketches of the Mulsanne Convertible, even though they have a Mulsanne with the top chopped off all prepared for viewing. How do we know? Because Bentley has been showing it to a select few over the Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey.

Bentley hasn’t just chopped the top off the Mulsanne, they’ve shortened it, fitted a more raked windscreen, dropped the back doors and lengthened the front doors to create a Bentley Mulsanne Convertible with all the right proportions.

Bentley boss,   said:

The modern, luxurious, high-tech Mulsanne saloon provides a perfect foundation on which to create the world’s most elegant convertible. The Convertible Concept will extend the appeal of the Mulsanne family, while enhancing the profile of the Bentley brand, particularly in new and emerging markets.

There seems little chance the Bentley Mulsanne Convertible won’t be in a Bentley showroom near you by 2015.
